Check your fuel caps!

CHECK YOUR FUEL CAPS

We have had a troubling number of instances where fuel caps have been found on taxiways, or on the runway. This has been happening not only after refuelling, but also with pilots who haven't refuelled but have left them off after pre-flight checks.

It is the pilot's responsibility to ensure their caps are securely fitted after refuelling. Best practice should be that pilots visually check the fuel level onboard matches what they were expecting.

When conducting a pre-flight check, take the time to make a final walk-around and identify items which aren't properly fastened.

Fuel caps pose a significant FOD risk to all aircraft. Often times they are found in take-off areas, which of course are also touch-down areas.

Please ensure an accident is not caused by your complacency or lack of attention, and secure those caps!
