out of hours request

Out of Hours Flying is Available from

friday 1st march 2024 until Saturday 26th October 2024

Blackbushe Airport is open from 07:00 - 18:00 local, 7 days per week.  Our licence permits movements between 07:00 - 22:00 local.  Extensions are possible for both ATSU and RFFS between 18:00 and 22:00 by prior arrangement.

To our resident GA pilots, we permit Outside Operational Hours flying (OOH) which is available during hours of daylight, between airport closure and 22:00 local.  No flying of any sort is permitted between 22:00 and 07:00 local.  Flying is restricted to those who have obtained approval from the Airport Manager, and hold a valid Airport ID Card.

PROCESS FOR ACTIVATING / DEACTIVATING THE LFA

If arriving back into Blackbushe you must (before entering the ATZ):

  • Contact Farnborough Radar on 133.440 (or other suitable freq.):

    “Farnborough Radar, G-ABCD destination Blackbushe, request LFA activation.”

  • Once confirmed by Farnborough, ensure you have Squawk 7010 set, and make normal ‘blind’ calls to Blackbushe Traffic on 122.305

  • Once Landed call Farnborough on 01252 526 015 (or via RT) to inform them you no longer need the LFA.

  • Please don’t deactivate the LFA until you’ve landed. Remember, if you have to go around you may need it!

If departing Blackbushe after 18:00 you must:

  • Call Farnborough on 01252 526 015 (or via RT):

    “Farnborough Radar, G-ABCD departing Blackbushe to XXXX, request LFA activation.”

    • If you require a clearance through the Farnborough CTR, you can also request this at the same time.

  • Once confirmed by Farnborough, ensure you have Squawk 7010 set, and make normal ‘blind’ calls to Blackbushe Traffic on 122.305

  • Once you have vacated the ATZ, contact Farnborough Radar on 133.440 (or other suitable freq.):

    “Farnborough Radar, G-ABCD Blackbushe LFA vacated.”

NON-STANDARD CIRCUITS

During OOH procedures, all pilots must conform to the published circuit pattern except in emergency circumstances. Any attempts to operate a downwind leg close to the aerodrome remaining outside of the LFA will be treated as a Breach of Aerodrome Rules & Procedures and OOH privileges will be withdrawn. Such operations endanger other users of the circuit.
