WORK EXPERIENCE & YOUNG WORKERS

YOUNG WORKERS

We regularly have vacancies in the Pathfinder Cafe for cafe assistants or kitchen porters. These roles are usually quite flexible, with some shifts available in the week, and many on the weekends or bank holidays. Due to the structure and legal requirements we can only accept applicants who are of ‘school leaving age’. This means the last Friday in June during their Year 11 school year. We do not recruit any staff under this age.

WORK EXPERIENCE

As an airport, we understandably get a lot of interest in work experience placements. Whilst we’re a big site, we are still quite a small team, and so we have limited ability to accommodate work experience. Again, due to the type of work in some of our business areas we do not accept any placements from children in Year 11 or below. We can only accept Year 12 or older.

We usually accommodate work experience during the summer term, and accept applications during January and February each year. We will then typically have a short interview with applicants, to help select 4 or 5 successful students. This also gives them some valuable interview experience in preparation for a life in industry.

A work experience will typically include sessions in the following areas:

  • General Airport Operations, Regulations, and Legislation

  • Blackbushe Air Traffic

  • Blackbushe Fire Crew

  • Pathfinder Cafe

  • Some time with a resident flying school

To apply for 2024 placements, send an email with your CV and covering letter, including when you’re looking to do work experience to employment@blackbusheairport.co.uk between January 1 and February 29th 2024. We will then consider applications in March 2024.
