Hampshire Police
The North and East Operational Command Unit (OCU) covers an area of 500 square miles serving a population of approximately half a million residents across the four district council areas of Rushmoor, Hart, Basingstoke and East Hampshire.
We have very strong partnership arrangements across all districts through the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships and Local Strategic Partnerships.
In addition, we have very positive activity with partners working on the Persistent and Priority Offender’s scheme and Public Protection Teams. The former team are focused on reducing the offending of the most active of criminals in the neighbourhood, whilst the latter proactively police the most dangerous of offenders, thereby protecting the most vulnerable people in our community.
We deliver response policing from four sites and deliver Safer Neighbourhoods policing through the 54 neighbourhoods across the OCU. These seek to deal with the local priorities of residents by working in partnership with local councillors and agencies.
The OCU has seen some sharp reductions in crime in the last couple of years with over 5,400 fewer victims of crime than in 2006/7. We have also seen specific reductions in criminal damage, vehicle crime, anti-social behaviour and violence.
We will continue with our efforts to keep our communities safer and support the force's objectives of:
i) Providing an excellent service
ii) Catching criminals
iii) Being active in every neighbourhood
